Walk on the Wild Side

Mom and dad love animals, and one of their very places to visit is Safari West. Just north of Napa, California, it's an animal park that has overnight accommodations. A few years ago, they went for their birthday.

The rooms are luxury tents, similar to tents used in African safaris

The bathroom vanity is a carved piece of wood

One of the best features is Lemur Island

Mom and dad drank their morning coffee watching the Lemurs warm up

Just hanging out in the morning sun

Hey, what are you lookin' at?

Mom could have watched them all morning

But as much as watching Lemurs was fun, they had a truck transport to catch

The truck drives through the animal enclosures

They drove right up to the Giraffes

Necks and spots everywhere

Safari West is known for their Giraffe breeding program

Not the prettiest fellow

This gal wandered freely around the park. She would scare visitors into dropping their food, and then snatch up a snack. Sadly, she died shortly after their trip, of old age. She had lived many years at Safari West.
